Q2 wrap up - An update from the Constructionarium Australia Board

Catch up on our highlights from Q2, including major builds, industry insights and what’s ahead in Q3.

It was a busy and rewarding Q2, with six builds across the quarter, welcoming new participants to the Constructionarium alumni network. We're thrilled to see our community of practically minded engineers and infrastructure professionals continue to grow.

Thank you to this quarter's major sponsors and partners – Silverstrand, Symal, Metro Trains Melbourne, Fulton Hogan, Level Crossing Removal Project, BMD, Melbourne Water, Construction Skills Queensland, McIlwain and Madsen Giersing. Your continued support enables us to deliver these transformative hands-on learning experiences that bridge the gap between theory and practice.

This quarter showcased some remarkable highlights, including our all-female build in partnership with LXRP and Fulton Hogan and an engaging panel discussion led by BMD and Melbourne Water to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day 2025. Our participants once again demonstrated exceptional collaboration, problem-solving and leadership skills while tackling complex engineering challenges in real-world team environments.

Beyond our builds, we've been actively engaged with the broader industry. Our CEO, Nicky Vaisey, attended several key industry conferences, including FCON25, QMCA Technology Day, NAWIC Awards Unveiling and Infrastructure Associated of Queensland events. These discussions reinforced both the opportunities and challenges ahead. While many sectors are experiencing a current lull, there's widespread recognition of the "tsunami of work" on the horizon, particularly in Queensland. The critical question isn't whether the work is coming – it's whether our industry is ready.

The conversations at these events additionally highlighted what we see daily at Constructionarium: the urgent need for skilled professionals to fill both retiring positions and new roles created by unprecedented infrastructure investment. The low level of female participation across all levels was a recurring theme, emphasising how programs like ours can showcase the multitude of career opportunities available and support both entry into and retention within the workforce.

We're responding to these industry needs by expanding our reach. Alongside our core eight-day program targeting emerging infrastructure professionals, we're partnering with Construction Skills Queensland to deliver a five-day immersive program for Year 11 and 12 students, encouraging parent involvement to highlight varied career paths in our sector.

In Q3, we’re delivering five more builds scheduled across Queensland and Victoria and remain committed to our mission of helping the next generation gain the practical, project management and team skills that our industry desperately needs. The enthusiasm and capability we see in each cohort gives us great confidence in the future of Australian infrastructure.

Thank you to all our supporters, sponsors and partners for your continued support.
