Turning Theory Into Practice

2020 build
programme

We have got an exciting 12 months coming up with builds planned in Brisbane and The Sunshine Coast including two new structures: The Eleanor Schonell Bridge and a Pumped Hydro Water Battery.

Story Bridge

15-24 April 2020 - Brisbane

The Story Bridge is a heritage-listed steel cantilever bridge spanning the Brisbane River that carries vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic between the northern and the southern suburbs of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. At 74m high, and 777m long, the Story Bridge is the longest cantilever bridge in Australia.

The bridge is part of Bradfield Highway and connects Fortitude Valley to Kangaroo Point. The Story Bridge opened in 1940 and is named after prominent public servant, John Douglas Story.

Eleanor Schonell Bridge

22 June - 1 July 2020 - Brisbane - All Female Build

The Eleanor Schonell Bridge, better known as the Green Bridge, is a 390-metre (1,280 ft)-long cable-stayed bridge which crosses the Brisbane River between Dutton Park and the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus, connecting the UQ Lakes and Dutton Park Place busway stations.

Its deck is 185 metres long, 20 metres wide and about 18 metres above the river’s surface. The bridge was opened on 17 December 2006, and is the first bridge in Australia exclusively designed for buses, cyclists and pedestrians.[2] The bridge cost $55.5 million to construct.

Water Battery

23 September - 2 October 2020 - Brisbane

Pumped-storage hydroelectricity (PSH), or pumped hydroelectric energy storage (PHES), is a type of hydroelectric energy storage used by electric power systems for load balancing. The method stores energy in the form of gravitational potential energy of water, pumped from a lower elevation reservoir to a higher elevation. And we are going to build one
